The Anaesthesia Department provides services to operaon theaters of General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Neurosurgery, EYE, ENT and Orthopaedics. It also provides care to paents in the Emergency Surgical ICU and Indoor Surgical ICU for 24 hours. In addion to all these facilies, the department provides in hospital services to Covid Medical HDU and paents admied in Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedics, EYE, ENT and Neurosurgery. In past, the department has been spearheaded by Prof. Aya Sakhi, Prof. Shahida Khawaja and Prof. Khalid Bu, amongst others. All of them played an important role in expansion of the department. At present, Anaesthesia Department FJMU / SGRH is being headed by Professor Muzamil Hussain. There are two Assistant Professors, four Senior Registrar and twenty one Medical Officers /Women Medical Officers, who help in the smooth running of the department. The Department of Anaesthesia, FJMU / SGRH was recognized for Postgraduate FCPS training in 2004. Till now, approximately 25 Doctors have cleared Fellowship program in Anaesthesia and are serving as Consultants in different hospitals of the world. It is also approved for MS Anaesthesia Program. Currently there are twenty FCPS residents, seventeen MS students and ten House Officers in the department. To achieve excellence in teaching and training, the Department arranges weekly classes for house officers and postgraduate students. Students are assessed through monthly wrien/clinical assessments. Various research iniaves are also undertaken by the faculty.
