Vice Chancellor’s Message

It gives me an absolute honor and great privilege to write this message today to the cream of nation and inspiring professionals of Fatima Jinnah Medical University where I have fond memories of being a regular Vice Chancellor with best team.
Fatima Jinnah Medical College for women was established in 1948, named after the illustrious sister of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The institute was elevated to the status of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on 1st July, 2015.
It attracts the best talent not only from Pakistan but all over the world and countries of SAARC region as well. Among the three affiliated teaching hospitals, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is one of the oldest tertiary care hospital established in 1946.Its faculty consists of eminent professors and distinguished specialists, who are committed to the highest standards of teaching, training, research and service delivery.  The alumni of FJMU are pride of institute serving in the country and abroad. Again the credit goes to this esteemed institution that has given them the best education, professionalism and moral values.

BASR Meeting Strengthens Research and Academic Excellence at Fatima Jinnah Medical UniversityA meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) was held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, under the chairmanship of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal.The meeting was specially graced by Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Director General PHOTA and former Vice Chancellor of FJMU. In his remarks, he appreciated the consistent and timely convening of BASR meetings, highlighting their vital role in strengthening research culture, enhancing academic standards, and elevating the university’s overall academic standing.The session was attended by distinguished members including Principal FJMC Prof. Abdul Hameed, former Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Dean Surgery & Allied Surgical Specialties Prof. Aisha Malik; Dean Undergraduate / Chairperson Medicine / Director DME / Director QEC Prof. Bilquis Shabbir; Dean Medicine & Allied / Head of Dermatology / Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem; Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Aliya Zahid and Dean Nursing Prof. Shamila Ijaz Munir.Other notable participants included Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfaraz, Director Academics, Health Services Academy; Prof. Naveed Akhtar Hotiana, Prof. Imran Aslam, Prof. Muzamil Hussain, Prof. Noor-ul-Ain Waheed, Prof. Qamar Ashfaq, Prof. Amna Euseph, Prof. Fouzia Ishaq, Dr. Verda Ashraf, along with faculty members from various departments.During the meeting, the Board unanimously approved 12 research synopsis, while suggesting minor amendments where necessary. Candidates also appeared before the Board along with their supervisors to present and discuss their research proposals.The Board further approved several important agenda items, including the appointment of supervisors for various MD/MS programs and the approval of research projects. We are pleased to share the establishment of the **Well Woman Clinic** at MCH, 3rd Floor, GRHL, under the supervision of Prof. Aisha Malik, Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, SGRH.The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, visited the facility today and appreciated this important initiative and a meaningful step toward strengthening women’s health services. A Three-Day Research Methodology Workshop for Postgraduate Scholars at Fatima Jinnah Medical UniversityA three-day comprehensive Research Methodology Workshop has been organized for MD, MS, and MPhil scholars at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) to strengthen research capacity and promote a robust academic culture among postgraduate trainees.The workshop was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, and the Principal, Prof. Abdul Hameed, whose presence highlighted the leadership’s commitment to advancing research and academic excellence within the institution.Director, Department of Medical Education, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the workshop. She emphasized the importance of structured methodology, ethical integrity, and analytical thinking in conducting high-quality research. The Principal briefed the audience on the expanding postgraduate programs at FJMU and reaffirmed the university’s continued support in providing mentorship, academic guidance, and research facilitation to MD, MS, and MPhil scholars.In his address, the Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal shared his vision for embedding a sustainable research culture within the university. He highlighted the introduction of new academic programs, the regular conduct of Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) meetings, and the strengthening of institutional mechanisms to ensure transparency, ethical compliance, and quality research output. He reiterated that strong research foundations are essential for institutional growth and national healthcare advancement.The first two days of the workshop have been successfully completed, covering essential components such as formulation of research questions, study designs, sampling techniques, ethical considerations, proposal development, and manuscript writing.
