CONCLUDING CEREMONY OF THE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM OF FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

A Grand Gala Dinner was organized in the Closing Ceremony of the Annual International Scientific Symposium at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. Hon’ble Health Minister Punjab Prof. Yasmin Rashid, who is also a graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, graced the occasion with her presence as Chief Guest.

Secretary Health Punjab Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Federal Secretary Dr. Ijaz Munir, President Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Fizza Zahid Rafique, President King Edward Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Muhammad Fateh Shahzad, President Allama Iqbal Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Nusrum Iqbal, Program Director King Edward Medical College Alumni Association UK Dr. Tabinda Dugal, Former Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Mehmood Ayaz, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof. Nadeem Hafeez Butt, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof. Sardar Farid Al-Zafar, Former Principals and Professors of Medical Institutions participated in the event as Special Guests.

Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Principal Prof. Noreen Akmal, Deans Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Abdul Hameed, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Chairperson Department of Medicine Prof. Bilquis Shabbir and Faculty Members were also present.

Hon’ble Health Minister Punjab Prof. Yasmin Rashid congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and the organizers of the Annual International Scientific Symposium for its successful conduction. She said that the World’s Best Punjab Thalassemia & Other Genetic Disorder Prevention and Research Institute established at FJMU/ SGRH, is providing best facilities for diagnosis, prevention and treatment of genetics and hereditary blood diseases. She also mentioned that State of the Art Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother & Child Health is now functional. A high level treatment is available to mother and child which will certainly decrease the maternal and child death rate in the Province.

Secretary Health Punjab Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi participated in the Grand Gala Dinner as Guest of Honor. He said that by organizing the International Scientific Symposium, post-graduate and undergraduate students, besides faculty members, got awareness of Modern Scientific Research, which will ultimately be beneficial for the ailing humanity. He also expressed his happiness that whenever he comes to Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Medical, Educational and Research activity, is always going on.

Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal specially thanked Hon’ble Health Minister Punjab Prof. Yasmin Rashid, whose tireless efforts have made Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother & Child Health functional. He also mentioned the efforts of President Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Fizza Zahid Rafiq and appreciated her role in establishing Kashani Village for the Rehabilitation of flood-victims in district DG Khan. It is the best example to pay back the Alma Mater and the country.

President Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America, Dr. Fizza Zahid Rafiq, in her address, thanked the Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun and all the faculty of the University for organizing such a wonderful and memorable event. She said that the establishment of the Department of Family Medicine is need of the hour and I am pleased to know that a seat of Assistant Professor of Family Medicine has been officially advertised for the establishment of the Department of Family Medicine at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.

President King Edward Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Muhammad Fateh Shehzad, President Allama Iqbal Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Nusrum Iqbal and Program Director King Edward Medical College Alumni Association (UK) Dr. Tabinda Dugal in their addresses specially congratulated the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and his team for the successful conduction of the Annual International Scientific Symposium.

Internationally renowned Poet Syed Salman Gillani entertained the participants with his poetry in his beautiful voice.

Dean Undergraduates Prof. Muniza Qayyum presented the vote of thanks to the participants.

The event was concluded with the distribution of Souvenirs to the Distinguished Guests.
