During the early phase of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, ENT patients used to be admitted in surgical wards. Dr. Ahmad khan Taufeeq played an instrumental role in development of ENT nucleus. The Department of ENT was first instituted in 1957 as single unit headed by Prof Walayat Ali Malik. To cope up with growing need for ENT services, the department was demarcated into two independent working units in 2007. In 2017 latest equipment for various ENT procedures was added to the department, during the period of Prof. Manzoor Ahmed. In addition to these doctors, other eminent pioneers include Prof. Asad Ullah Lone and Prof Surraya saeed.

Since its establishment, ENT Unit II has continually evolved and flourished with the aim of providing quality care to patients and their families. Now it is a major tertiary level referral unit in Punjab. Currently it is being headed by Professor Mirza Muhammad Sarwar, supported by a skilled team of one Assistant Professor, one senior registrar and seven post- graduate residents in various years of training in both MS ENT and FCPS programs. The department feels pride in offering expertise for full range of ENT diseases, including head & neck cancers. Excellent out-patient, in-patient, emergency and operative services are ensured along with diagnostic facilities for common and advanced ENT, head and neck conditions. Audiology services are also provided by a trained personnel for hearing assessment. ENT unit II has a twenty bedded ward. Advanced ENT and head and neck surgeries being routinely performed, include, surgeries of ear, nose, throat, larynx, oral cavity, thyroid gland, salivary glands and head & neck Oncologic procedures.
