Department of Orthopaedics FJMU/SGRH aims for the best possible paent care as well as imparng educaon par excellence to its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department was inially housed in former Mozang Block and later on shied to new Famtia Jinnah Block. The Department aims for “Excellence through Service” under its current Head, Dr. Tanvir Afzal, who is assisted by 2 Assistant Professors, 2 Senior Registrars and 3 Medical Officers/ Women Medical Officers. All kind of Orthopaedic operaons are being rounely performed in the department. The faculty has a special interest and excellence in the Endoscopic Orthopaedic Surgery. Department of Orthopaedics caters Emergency Services of SGRH 24/07 and renders services in the Orthopaedic OPD twice weekly. It also covers the trauma management in SGRH. The Unit has 40 beds at its disposal where paents are admied through ER as well as OPD. It is recognized by CPSP for FCPS and by FJMU for training in MS Orthopaedics. Currently there are 15 Postgraduate residents and 4 House Officers aached with the department. The faculty is keen to produce quality research from the unit and is acvely engaged in many research endeavors. The Journal Club, mortality review and emergency meeng are a regular feature of the unit.
