Department of Medicine at Fatima Jinnah Medical University and Sir Ganga-Ram Hospital is one of the oldest departments in the Institute. Medical Unit 3 houses 28 beds (14 each in male and female side) for inpatient care. The unit provides services in ER 48 hours a week, and two days a week in OPD. The unit provides full clinical support in care of patients suffering from Covid-19 and Dengue, with exceptional professionalism and selflessness. The unit enjoys proximity to most of the hospital departments. The teaching faculty comprises of one Associate Professor, one Assistant Professor, and two Senior Registrars. Medical unit 3 is recognized for undergraduate teaching of MBBS students, and postgraduate training in MD and FCPS in Internal Medicine, accredited by FJMU and CPSP, respectively. The department deems post graduate training to be top priority, which is materialized by laying a strong emphasis on bedside teaching during daily ward rounds. The unit is dynamic in arranging regular case presentations, classes, journal club and morbidity and mortality review weekly, alongside regular assessment of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills. Comfortable spaces and environment in the form of offices, PG room, teaching room and a library with internet facility have been allocated to promote sound clinical training and research.
