The Department of Pulmonology and Crical Care became funconal in 2020. Assistant Professor, Mirza Ayub Baig was amongst the pioneers and connues to spearhead the Department. The Department has a ten bedded ICUseng having 10 funconal venlators and a procedure room, which caters paents from Emergency department, wards and somemes from other hospitals as well. There are 8 Medical Officers and 16 staff nurses working in the Department. The well-trained team of Pulmonology and Crical care Department provides support services 24/7 and works enthusiascally for recovery of paents having breathing issues and other respiratory pathologies requiring venlator support. The department has facilies for Airway management and passing Endotracheal Tube, Cardiovascular monitoring, Central venous catheter placement, Double lumen catheter placement, Chest tube inseron and Dialysis facility for paents developing acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. The department also conducts advanced Intervenonal Pulmonology procedures like Bronchoscopy and lung biopsy. In the era of Covid–19 pandemic, the whole team has provided excellent care to crical cases characterized by ARDS, respiratory failure, sepc shock and Mul organ failure etc. The department is currently striving for iniaon of postgraduate programs (FCPS and MD Pulmonology), which are expected to be started soon in near future.
