During the early phase of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, ENT patients used to be admitted in surgical wards. Dr. Ahmad khan Taufeeq played an instrumental role in development of ENT nucleus. The Department of ENT was first instituted in 1957 as single unit headed by Prof Walayat Ali Malik. To cope up with growing need for ENT services, the department was demarcated into two independent working units in 2007. In 2017 latest equipment for various ENT procedures was added to the department, during the period of Prof. Manzoor Ahmed. In addition to these doctors, other eminent pioneers include Prof. Asad Ullah Lone and Prof Surraya saeed.

The unit is working under leadership of HOD Prof. Muhammad Irshad Malik and is staffed with highly qualified and experienced team of ENT specialists, to provide quality care and comprehensive range of diagnostic, treatment and surgical options for the patient. The department has one Associate Professor, two Assistant Professors and two Medical Officers. The hallmark of department is integration of education and research with clinical services, entailing a wide range of surgical treatments. Being recognized by PMDC, HEC and CPSP, the department of ENT offers extensive academic programs for undergraduates and post graduates students including FCPS, MS and MCPS programs. Currently there are five postgraduate students enrolled in FCPS training program and four MS residents. The department has a well-equipped Audiology centre and operation theatre with latest instruments and facilities for advance procedures. The department pursues modern techniques to provide better treatment options for patients. Moreover advance Head and neck surgeries including excision of Oncologic tumors are also being routinely performed.
