Introduction of the Department

Since its establishment Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit IV is actively involved in undergraduate and post graduate medical education at FJMU. The unit is accredited for FCPS, MS and house job training. The unit also deals efficiently with all types of routine elective and emergency Obstetrics and Gynaecological surgeries. Professor Amina Yousaf is Head of Unit IV and her team comprises of 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, 4 Senior Registrars, 2 WMOs, 29 Postgraduate trainees and 10 House Officers. The unit consists of 46 independent beds (Obstetrics ward, Gynae ward), in addition to shared beds in Labour room and post-operative area. The unit has a fully equipped class room in new block. Clinicopathological meetings and mortality meetings are regular events in monthly roster. The unit not only facilitates, rather steers the research undertaken by post graduate trainees during their residency program. Research focus is firmly entrenched in the operational framework at the unit, emphasizing its significance for continuous career development. Several research projects are in progress and number of research papers have been published in indexed journals.
