A Pre conference workshop in collaboration with Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine “Medical disorders in Pregnancy” was held today at Fatima Jinnah Medical University , Lahore on 02-03-23 under the patronship of Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal .
It was organized by Prof Dr Zohra Khanum Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology FJMU, LHR .

Prof Dr Bilquis Shabbir Chairperson Medicine and Director QEC, FJMU/SGRH and Dr Fatima Khanum Assoc Prof Pathology FJMU, were the facilitators.
They emphasized the role of different medical conditions in pregnancy that are causing increased maternal morbidity and mortality. The most important medical conditions discussed in the workshop today were : hypertension in pregnancy, diabetes in pregnancy, jaundice, DVT/PE, cardiac conditions etc all requiring multidisciplinary input to save the mother’s life and best outcome for the baby
The workshop included role play, presentations, group discussions and input from all facilitators, followed by interactive discussions on updates and latest advances.
Preconference workshop was attended by 40 participants .
The facilitators emphasized on the need to address different causes of maternal mortality through team effort, enhancing the availability of MDT approach in dealing with such medical conditions in pregnancy.
