A workshop on E-FAST Extended Focus Assessment with Sonography in Trauma was organised by the department of Anaesthesia SGRH in collaboration with the Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists (PSA) Lahore Chapter on the 15th of June 2023.
Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamgha e Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of performance) was the patron in chief. Head of Anaesthesia Dept. Prof. Dr. Muzamil Hussain and Prof. Dr Liaqat Ali headed the workshop.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Zia, Dean of Anaesthesiology and Dr. Syed Mehmood, Associate Prof. Sheikh zayed hospital graced the event with their presence. Prof Noreen Akmal, Principal FJMU, Prof Munazza Iqbal Dean Undergraduate, Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Director QEC/Dean Nursing were also present on the occasion.
The workshop emphasised on the clincal Importance of E-FAST and its application in ICU and Emergency Settings.
Early recognition of Important clinical diagnosis eg, Pneumothorax , Intra abdominal bleeding can be picked up on bedside within seconds and subsequent management can be efficiently made by using E-FAST Scan.
The workshop consisted of 4 stations, Left Upper Quadrant,Lung,Heart and Right Upper Quadrant.
These stations were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Zia, Dean of Anaesthesiology and Dr. Syed Mehmood, Associate Prof. Sheikh zayed ,Prof. Dr Liaqat Ali , Dr Saamia Assistant Prof. SGRH, Dr. Shiekh Ziarat Ali, Assistant Prof. SGRH, Dr. Raheela and Dr. Afroza.
28 participants from different hospitals participated in the workshop and were divided into small groups for better understanding of the subject.
After the initial teaching, participants were given hands on practice time.
Vice Chancellor FJMU , Prof Khalid Masud Gondal appreciated the efforts of the anaesthesia department and talked about the importanceof knowingand justifying the use of technology in patient management.Certificates were distributed at the end of the workshop amongst the participants.
