ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP OF FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Fatima Jinnah Medical University wins one more award.

Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean Faculty of Surgery FJMU, Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja has been awarded as Best University Teacher of the Country in the category of Life Sciences and Medicine by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the year 2022.

Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja is well known in medical fraternity as one of the renowned general surgeon and medical teacher of the country. He is serving at the Fatima Jinnah Medical University as Professor of Surgery since 2013. During his tenure, he has been assigned various challenging positions, including Editor in Chief of Journal of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Director QEC, Convener Institutional Review and Ethical Board of FJMU, Dean Faculty of Surgery, and currently as the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University. In addition to his professional and academic responsibilities at FJMU, Prof. Kamran Khawaja is serving the highest postgraduate awarding body of the country, the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan as member of Faculty of Surgery and Director of the most prestigious trauma course ATLS conducted by the College under the auspices of Committee on Trauma by the American College of Surgeons. He has been an Examiner and Supervisor of the Postgraduate Programs (MS & FCPS) of Fatima Jinnah Medical University and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.

Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja has written more than 50 Research Papers in impact factor international and national journals and has presented numerous research papers in various conferences. He is the author of the updated Editions of Basic Life Support Book for the Fatima Jinnah Medical University and trained more than 5000 university students and paramedical staff in basic life support program of FJMU.

He is the most favorite faculty member of CHPE Course conducted by FJMU as Faculty Development Program for medical teachers.

He is regarded as a role model mentor and teacher among under and postgraduate medical students of FJMU and CPSP.

He has served as President of Society of Surgeons of Pakistan Lahore Chapter during 2018 and 2020.

He was nominated for the Best University Teacher Award of HEC for the year 2022 by the Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, after he retained the position of best university teacher and mentor of FJMU for consecutive 5 years in various surveys conducted by the Quality Enhancement Cell of FJMU.

The Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, attended the prestigious HEC Award Ceremony held on Wednesday 9th August to show his commitment in supporting and encourging his faculty of FJMU. The Chairman HEC, Prof. Mukhtar Ahmad, in his speech on the occasion explained the tedious process of selection of Best University Teacher of the Country and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on winning this award after a tough competition among various universities of the country.

In his exclusive talk at the occasion, Vice Chancellor FJMU extended his thanks to Chairman and Staff of HEC for strictly observing the merit in the highly competitive award winning process. He added that this award will serve to encourage and motivate the FJMU faculty to continue striving to produce best doctors bearing highest professionalism, ethical and moral values.
