COMMENCEMENT OF THE FIRST CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL CONFERENCE (CPC) SESSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-24 AT FJMU

The Commencement of the First Clinicopathological Conference (CPC) was held under the kind patronage of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, FJMU, for final-year MBBS students in the Auditorium of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. The Chief Coordinator for the CPC Series is Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson Department of Medicine, Director QEC, Dean Faculty of Nursing.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Principal Noreen Akmal, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem Kasuri, Head of Medicine Unit-II Prof. Muhammad Naeem Afzal, Faculty Members, Post-graduate Residents, and Undergraduates of the final year class attended the session.
In CPC, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Unit-I and the Department of Medicine Unit-II presented different cases, starting with History, Physical Examination and ending with diagnosis, treatment, complications, management, and follow-up of the clinical cases.
“Ectopic Pregnancy in the Lower Uterine Segment” was presented by the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, FJMU/ SGRH. Dr. Shaiza Sharif, PGR, presented the history, physical examination, diagnosis and Dr. Madiha Dar, PGR discussed clinical management and its complications.
“Pyogenic Liver Abscess” was presented by Department of Medicine Unit-II, FJMU/ SGRH. Ms. Fiza Tabassum, a final-year student, presented the History, Physical Examination and Dr. Abeera, PGR, discussed differential diagnosis, clinical management, and its complications. Prof. Muhammad Naeem Afzal further added the treatment plan and its prognosis.
Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor of FJMU, also joined the session. He addressed the final-year MBBS class and said that the CPC is an academic event and a platform for interaction between the faculty and students. He highlighted the importance of CPC in clinical learning. He endorsed its importance for future doctors and clinicians. He also enlightened them about the recent victories of FJMU. He further emphasised the need to start the investigation of a patient with history, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management. Finally, he especially addressed the gynaecologist and said that knowing the presence of Allah, we should decide today that a woman whose normal delivery is possible, should not be operated at all.
The conference ended with closing remarks from Prof. Muhammad Naeem Afzal.
