COMMENCEMENT OF THE FOURTH CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL CONFERENCE (CPC) SESSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023–24 AT FJMU

This particular session focused on improving the clinical expertise of undergraduate and postgraduate students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
The event was headed by Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor of FJMU, and meticulously coordinated by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson of the Department of Medicine, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell, and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at FJMU/ SGRH.
The conference featured presentations from two key departments: the Department of Dermatology, led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, and the Department of Obst. & Gynae Unit-III, led by Prof. Shamila Ijaz Munir.
The first case on “Generalized Pustular Psoriasis,” with comprehensive insights provided by Ms. Muqaddas Akhter (Final Year MBBS) and Dr. Khalood Sarwar (PGR Dermatology), covered aspects such as history, physical examination, histopathological examination, differential diagnosis, clinical management, treatment, complications, and prognosis. Prof. Ameena Ashraf, Head of Pathology Department, gave her expert opinion on histopathological findings, and Dr. Bilal Azeem Butt, Assistant Professor of Rheumatology, gave his expert opinion on radiological findings. Finally, Dr. Kehkshan Tahir, Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, concluded the session with her valuable remarks.
The second case on “Congenital Uterine Anomalies” was presented by the Department of Obst. & Gynae Unit-III. Ms. Rismha Akram (Final Year MBBS) and Dr. Maira Gul (PGR Obst. & Gynae), covered the aspects such as gynaecological history, physical examination, lab investigations, differential diagnosis, reproductive implications, clinical management, and complications. Dr. Rashid gave his expert opinion on the radiological findings. Finally, Prof. Shamila Ijaz Munir, Head of Obst. & Gynae Unit-III, concluded the session with her valuable comments.
Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal actively participated and highlighted the importance of CPC as an arena for higher learning, and emphasizing the vital role of rapid diagnosis and treatment in patient care. He summarised both cases in the simplest yet elaborate manner, which was highly appreciated by students and faculty, while also underscoring the importance of spirituality in medical practice. Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal expressed gratitude to Prof. Bilquis Shabbir and her team, who deserve special recognition for organising these conferences, which greatly enhance the clinical knowledge and skill development of the participating staff members and students at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
