COMMENCEMENT OF THE SIXTH CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL CONFERENCE (CPC) SESSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023–24

Enhancing the clinical proficiency of undergraduate and postgraduate students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore, was the main goal of this specific session.
The event was painstakingly planned by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson of the Department of Medicine/ Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell/ Dean Faculty of Nursing at FJMU, under the kind patronage of the esteemed Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal.
The conference featured presentations from two key departments: the Department of Nephrology, led by Dr. Shahid Anwar, and the Department of Obst. & Gynae Unit IV, led by Prof. Dr. Amna Zia Eusaph.
The first case on “HYPOGLYCAEMIA AMONG HAEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS,” with comprehensive insights provided by Dr. Nabiha (House Officer) and Dr. Seemab (PGR Nephrology), covered aspects such as history, physical examination, diagnosis, clinical management, treatment, and complications. The Head of Nephrology, Dr. Shahid Anwar, gave his expert opinion and insightful remarks to wrap off the discussion.
The second case on “OUTCOMES OF LOSS OF FOLLOW-UP IN 29 YEARS OLD PRIMIGRAVIDA HAVING COMPLETE MOLAR PREGNANCY” was presented by the Department of Obst. & Gynae Unit-IV. Dr. Mahnoor (House Officer) and Dr. Maryam Shahid (PGR Obst. & Gynae Unit-IV) covered aspects of history, physical examination, investigations, clinical management, and complications. Prof. Dr. Amna Zia Eusaph, Head of Obst. & Gynae Unit IV, concluded the session with her valuable comments.
The FJMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, actively participated in highlighting the importance of CPC as a setting for higher education as well as the vital role that early diagnosis and treatment play in patient care. He went on to highlight that the most important things to remember while treating a patient are prompt admission, prompt diagnosis, and prompt therapy. The professors and students much enjoyed the elaborate yet straightforward summary of both cases, which underlined the need for spirituality in medical practice. He greatly appreciated the efforts of Prof. Bilquis Shabbir in organising these conferences, which substantially improve the clinical knowledge and skill development of participating professionals and students at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
