*FAMILY MEDICINE DEPARTMENT AT FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY* Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians organized 32nd Annual International Conference on Family Medicine from 27th to 30th October, 2022. Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Head of Institutions, Senior Faculty Members and Family Physicians from all over the country participated in this Mega Event. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal was the Guest of Honor on Inaugural Session and the Banquet of this International Event. Hon’ble Chancellor, Governor of Punjab His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman graced the Banquet as the Chief Guest. The President Academy of Family Physicians Pakistan Dr. Tariq Mehmod Mian highlighted the importance of Family Physicians and requested for implementation of the Referral System and Creation of the Department of Family Medicine in Tertiary Care Centers.
The Guest of Honor Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal while addressing the audience mentioned the contributions of CPSP and universities for Postgraduate Program in Family Medicine. He said that Fatima Jinnah Medical University would establish the Department of Family Medicine. The post of Assistant Professor of Family Medicine has already been approved by the Syndicate of FJMU which is going to be announced soon.
The Chief Guest Hon’ble Chancellor appreciated the contributions of the Family Physicians for service delivery and establishment Medical Relief Camps in flood affected areas. The Chief Guest specially pointed out the contributions of Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal as Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University for establishing the Department of Telemedicine on permanent basis at KEMU. He also appreciated the creation of Faculty Post of Family Medicine at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. He further advised the feedback of Vice-Chancellor’s Committee constituted under the Convenership of Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, with reference to establishment of Department of Family Medicine in every university. The Committee was constituted with reference to the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference 2022 held at Murree. The Sub Theme included “The Current Trends in Health Education”
The Banquet concluded with the vote of thanks by Senior Vice President Dr. Saeed Ahmad and General Secretary Dr. Muhammad Tahir Chaudhary.
