FAREWELL CEREMONY CONDUCTED IN HONOR OF PROF. DR. SHAMSA HUMAYUN, PRO-VICE CHANCELLOR FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, LAHORE

A Farewell Ceremony was held on the occasion of retirement of Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun, Pro-Vice Chancellor/ Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore.

Caretaker Health Minister Punjab, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Prof. Dr. Javed Akram and Caretaker Health Minister Punjab Primary & Secondary Health Care Department Dr. Jamal Nasir graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Prof. Dr. Shoaib Shafi, Professor Emeritus Obstetrics and Gynecology Dr. Rashid Latif Khan graced the occasion as Special Guests of Honor. Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof. Masood Sadiq, Former Vice-Chancellor FJMU Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences Prof. Farooq Afzal, Ex-Principal Amir Ud Din Medical College/ Renowned Gynecologist and Fertility Consultant Prof. Dr. Farrukh Zaman, Prof. Arif Tajammal, Prof. Muhammad Tayyab, Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Association of Fatima Jinnah Old Graduates (AFJOG) members Dr. Munira, Dr. Nighat Mir, Dr. Nishat Maqsood, Dr. Malika Rana and Major Gen (R) Mazhar Ishaq from Pakistan Army also graced the occasion as Guests of Honor.

Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal welcomed all the distinguished guests.

On this occasion, Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Registrar FJMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Muniza Qayyum, Prof. Zohra Khanum, Prof. Munazza Iqbal, Prof. Abdul Hameed, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Chairperson Department of Surgery Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Director Quality Enhancement Cell Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, all members of the Academic Council and a large number of faculty attended the ceremony.

Before Farewell Ceremony, a meeting of Academic Council was held in which all Heads of Departments, Professors and Faculty Members expressed their good wishes for Prof. Shamsa Humayun.

Health Minister Punjab, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Prof. Javed Akram congratulated Prof. Shamsa Humayun. He said that she is the identity of Fatima Jinnah Medical University and her services will always be remembered by this Institution. He expressed that I have only one goal as a Minister to do more and more work for the service of humanity. He said that the facility of Angioplasty has been made available on an urgent basis in hospitals across the Punjab.

Health Minister Punjab, Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department Dr. Jamal Nasir congratulated Prof. Shamsa Humayun in his address. He said that I will work for the rights of doctors. I am trying to do more services for the rights of doctors.

Prof. Rashid Latif Khan in his address congratulated Prof. Shamsa Humayun on this memorable day. He suggested to take special care of mental and physical health and add friends in her life.

In the welcome address, Principal FJMC Prof. Noreen Akmal thanked all the distinguished guests. She appreciated the services rendered by Prof. Shamsa Humayun for this Institution.

Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal congratulated Prof. Shamsa Humayun on this memorable day and thanked her for unprecedented services. He said that she is an Excellent Teacher as well as an Excellent Mentor. She rendered excellent services during the Corona Outbreak and in Floods Relief Activities. She played a vital role in the establishment of Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother and Child Health and the launching of four new Super Specialties. She has done her best in FJMU as Vice Chancellor/ Pro Vice Chancellor/ Director Department of Medical Education/ Chairperson Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal further said he was very impressed with her performances in Teaching, Research and Administrative matters and if he wes to choose the best Team Leader and the Best Team Member among the faculty, he would definitely choose Prof. Shamsa Humayun. Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal concluded his speech with best wishes for Prof. Shamsa Humayun and prayers for success in this world and the hereafter.

Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun in her address thanked all the faculty and distinguished guests, especially Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, for generosity and respect. She further said that she has been associated with Fatima Jinnah Medical University for more than 32 years and I very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve this Institution. She also said that ALLAH is The Best Planner and blessed me with many blessings. She expressed that this institution resides in her heart and it is a great honor for her to work under the supervision of Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal.She also said that she found Prof Khalid Masud Gondal to be the best person to work with amazing qualities. She thanked all the faculty, distinguished guests and Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal for organizing such a dignified Ceremony.

At the end of the Ceremony, Prof. Shamsa Humayun’s birthday cake was also cut and gifts and shields were presented to Prof. Shamsa Humayun by the faculty.
