Farewell ceremony conducted in honour of Associate Professor Dr Shahzad Alam Shah, S3 at FJMU/SGRH.

Farewell ceremony was held on the occasion of retirement of Associate Professor, Dr Shahzad Alam Shah, General Surgery Unit 3 at Sir, Gangaram hospital Fatima, Jinnah Medical University Lahore. At the same time, Professor Dr Waseem Hayat Khan was welcomed as the new head of department of surgical unit three at Sir Gangaram hospital and Fatima Jinnah Medical University. The ceremony was held under the patronship of Professor Dr Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamga-e-Imtiaz, presidential pride of performance) Vice Chancellor of the Fatima Jinnah medical University. The ceremony was convened by the professor Dr Imran Aslam head of department surgical Unit 2 SGRH FJMU.

The ceremony was attended by Dr.Athar Yousuf MS SGRH,Professor Dr Bilquis Shabbir Director QEC FJMU and Chairperson of Department Medical Unit 1 at SGRH as prominent guests.

Prof Imran Aslam initiated the proceedings by welcoming our patron in chief. In his address he briefly highlighted his experience of working with Dr Shahzad Alam Shah while appreciating his surgical skills and his prowess in laparoscopic surgery.He welcomed Professor Dr Waseem Hayat Khan as his fellow colleague. He welcomed any and all future collaborations with all departments in SGRH.

Prof Bilquis Shabbir while addressing the audience encouraged interdepartmental collaboration. She shared her ideas regarding how interventional and therapeutic endoscopic procedures and collaboration in endocrinological diseases could help improve patient care and how her department is willing to collaborate with General Surgery to achieve this shared goal.

Professor Waseem Hayat Khan while addressing the audience welcomed the opportunity of working with the excellent surgical team under the visionary leadership of professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal and promised to make all possible efforts from his part in order to create a more healthy and conducive learning environment for all surgical residents.

VC FJMU Professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal (tamgha e Imtiaz, Presidential Pride of Performance) the Chief Guest of the occasion addressed the audience. He highlighted the accomplishments of Dr Shehzad Alam Shah during his years of benevolent service at SGRH. He ensured his utmost devotion and efforts in achieving better standards of medical education.In order to achieve world class patient care he encouraged interdepartmental collaboration. As he bid farewell to Dr Shehzad Alam Shah he welcomed Dr Waseem Hayat Khan to his team. He shared his lifetime experiences and stressed hoe persistent hard work and dedication can help achieve targets.

Dr Shehzad Alam Shah made an address thanking our worthy Vice chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal for his continuous support throughout his years of service.He thanked everyone for the love he received while working at SGRH and wished that the newly appointed head of department of surgical Unit 3 would continue to further improve overall patient care.

The ceremony ended with cake cutting and distribution token of appreciation.
