The Department of Medical Unit 1 organized a hands-on workshop on “Sepsis Management Pathway” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir (Chairperson, Department of Medicine/QEC/Dean Nursing, FJMU).
The Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, graced the session as Chief Guest.
Dr. Memoona Arshad was the guest speaker from PKLI. She is a consultant for infectious diseases.
The workshop was attended by all HoDs of the department of medicine, including Prof. Dr. Naeem Afzal and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aftab. Dr. Sumayya Sikander Beg from microbiology and Dr. Faheem Saeed from neurology also attended the workshop. A large number of students, house officers, and PGRs also attended the workshop.
The workshop started with an introductory note by Prof Bilquis Shabbir. Dr. Memoona talked on sepsis diagnosis and its management followed by a rotation of participants on different stations specially designed for hands-on practice.
The worthy Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, appreciated the Department of Medicine Unit 1 for organizing this workshop. He gave his insight about sepsis. He said that sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition caused by the body’s extreme response to an infection. When the body’s immune system overreacts to an infection, it can trigger widespread inflammation, leading to organ dysfunction or failure. It’s a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment in a hospital.
Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir concluded with some final thoughts on sepsis.
At the end, the worthy Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, presented a bouquet of flowers to the guest speaker, Dr. Memoona Arshad.
