A pre-scientific conference symposium was conducted on basic aspects of Blood Banking organised by the Department of Pathology (Haematology Section) at FJMU, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ameena Ashraf (Head of Pathology Department) and Prof. Humera Rafiq (Section Incharge Haematology) at FJMU.
The session started with a recitation of the Holy Quran.
There was a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Ameena Ashraf.
The esteemed Pro Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Dr. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir (Chairperson Medicine Department/Dean Nursing/Director QEC), and Prof. Shamsa Humayun (Visiting Prof. Obst & Gynae FJMU Former VC and Dean Surgery) graced the occasion.
Important topics regarding blood transfusion, including positive patient identification, safe blood transfusion, management of blood transfusion reactions, and antenatal anti-D prophylaxis, were discussed.
The session generated fruitful discussion between facilitators and participants. This activity was well appreciated by guests and participants. Prof. Bilquis Shabbir appreciated and thanked the Department of Pathology on throwing light on a very essential subject.
Concluding remarks were given by Prof. Humera Rafiq. There was a group photo of guests, participants, and facilitators at the end of the session.
