A pre-scientific conference workshop was organised by the department of paediatrics at Fatima Jinnah Medical University on December 12, 2023.The workshop titled “Paediatric Ventilation” was organised under the dynamic supervision of Prof. Dr. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Head of Paediatric Department, FJMU, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Fouzia Ishaq, Professor of Paediatrics at FJMU.
The highly esteemed speakers and facilitators included Dr. Nighat Sultana, Associate Professor Paediatric ICU and Critical Care, University of Child Health Sciences; Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Assistant Professor Paediatric ICU and Critical Care, University of Child Health Sciences; Dr. Anila Jameel, Fellow Paediatric Critical Care, Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health; and Dr. Samreen Ashraf.
The honourable Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal (Tamgha e Imtiaz & Presidential Pride of Performance), graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He gave his valuable advice to doctors about the importance of this workshop. He appreciated the efforts of the pediatrics department in arranging workshops for better training of students and doctors.
Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson, Department of Medicine/Director QEC/Dean Faculty of Nursing, and Organizing Secretary for the Annual Scientific Conference also attended the workshop.
The workshop was attended by a notable number of participants from various institutes as well as postgraduate residents of the paediatrics department.The well-conversant facilitators enlightened the participants on the need for ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, different modes and strategies of ventilation, weaning from ventilators, and HFOV.
The workshop ended with the distribution of certificates among the participants.
