FJMU ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE 2023: Pre-scientific workshop on “Work Place-Based Assessment” at FJMU

A pre-scientific workshop on “work place-based assessment” was organised by GYNAE unit 1 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aisha Malik, HOD Obst. & Gynae unit 1/Dean undergraduates, FJMU.

Patron-in-Chief of the workshop PROF. DR. KHALID MASUD GONDAL (T.I. and presidential pride of performance), Vice Chancellor of FJMU graced the occasion as chief guest.

Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Principal FJMC/Director DME, and HOD Gynae Unit 2 along with Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir (Chairperson Department of Medicine/Quality Enhancement Cell/Dean Nursing FJMU)Secretary organising committee also graced the occasion.

The Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, was also accompanied by the Dean of Neuroscience, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed, and the newly appointed Medical Superintendent, SGRH Dr. Sohail Arshad.

The session was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun (visiting Prof. Obst. & Gynae FJMU, former VC and Dean Surgery, FJMU).

The main objective of today’s workshop was to educate the participants on workplace-based assessment, its types (DOPS and Mini CEX), and how to conduct DOPS and Mini CEX.

The emphasis was given on its importance as formative assessment for postgraduate trainees, as it has become a mandatory part of their FCPS postgraduate training program by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.

The workshop was attended by 35 participants from different hospitals in Lahore, including senior faculty like Prof. Dr. Shamila Ijaz Munir and Prof. Amna Zia. Participants included supervisors and senior registrars, as well as PGRs.

A hands-on practice session on DOPS and MiniCEX was facilitated by Associate Professor Gynae 1, Dr. Saima Chaudhary.

Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, VC FJMU, emphasised in his speech the importance of this very essential workshop for supervisors and FCPS postgraduate trainees. He enlightened the participants that WPBA is part of the FCPS training program and with this formative assessment, the standard and quality of FCPS will be more validated and enhanced in the future. He highly appreciated the facilitator, Prof. Shamsa Humayun, and Gynae Unit 1 for organising such a workshop.His speech was followed by the distribution of certificates by the Worthy VC among the participants.
