HON’BLE MINISTER FOR HEALTH PUNJAB, MR. KHAWAJA SALMAN RAFIQ GRACED THE MEETING OF INSTITUTIONAL PRACTICE AT FJMU

The Hon’ble Provincial Minister for Specialized Health Care and Medical Education Department, Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafiq, chaired the committee meeting of Institutional Practice at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.

The Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, along with the faculty of FJMU, welcomed the Hon’ble Minister for Health, Punjab.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Mr. Raja Mansoor Ahmed, Additional Secretary Technical Department Specialized Health Care & Medical Education Dr. Hafiz Shahid Latif, Pro-Vice Chancellor FJMU Professor Dr. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Principal FJMC Professor Dr. Noreen Akmal, Chairperson Medicine Professor Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem Qasoori, Deans Prof. Aisha Malik, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, MD Children’s Hospital Professor Dr. Tipu Sultan, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Institute of Cardiology Professor Dr. Anjum Jalal, Principal Services Institute Medical Sciences Professor Dr. Zohra Khanum, Professor Dr. Tauseef Fatima, Medical Superintendent Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Prof. Dr. Hafiz Moeen Ud Din and Dr. Athar Yousaf.

The Principal of Sahiwal Medical College, Professor Dr. Imran Hassan Khan, Prof. Dr. Saqib Saeed, and Prof. Dr. Musfirah, attended the meeting through video conferencing.

During the meeting, a thorough evaluation of the execution of the High Court’s instructions was conducted.

The directions from the Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore, regarding improving the functioning of government hospitals have been warmly appreciated by the committee members.

The Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, gave a comprehensive briefing to the Chair and the members in this regard. He appreciated the untiring efforts of the previous interim government under the leadership of Mr. Mohsin Raza Naqvi and hoped that under the enthusiastic guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab, Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz, and Hon’ble Health Minister Punjab, Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafiq, exceptional health services would be provided to the ailing humanity.

The Hon’ble Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, while addressing, acknowledged the orders of the Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore, regarding improving the conditions of government hospitals, which will be implemented soon. The Lahore High Court has highlighted the basic problems of government hospitals. We are trying our level best to ensure that there will be no problem for patients in government hospitals. All the energy is being spent to improve the conditions of government hospitals in Punjab.

He further constituted a sub-committee headed by CEO Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Prof. Dr. Anjum Jalal, to prepare the recommendations to review the medical facilities for private practice in government hospitals. The sub-committee will soon submit final recommendations and suggestions after reviewing the medical facilities for private practice in government hospitals. He further stated that 100% private practice should be implemented in government hospitals under the Act of 2003.

He also shared the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who is very interested in improving the health facilities in public sector institutions. There is a bright scope to improve medical facilities in government hospitals in Punjab. Initially, a pilot project will be launched with reference to private practice.

At the end, the Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, presented a special souvenir to the Hon’ble Health Minister of Punjab, Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafiq.
