The Department of Obstetrics and Gynae GTHS, which is headed by Dr Sofia Iqbal, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynae , with collaborative efforts of administration established a cervical cancer screening centre and fetomaternal Monitoring Unit.
This room is equipped with advance ultrasound facility and CTG machines for fetal surveillance, that will help patients to provide diagnostic screening tools under a single roof.
In addition this will provide cervical screening and examination facilities as well.
The Worthy Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal inaugurated the centre and appreciated the facilities provided to the patients. He further added that these type of one stop clinics are need of time and it will reduce mortality and morbidity in patients due to earlier diagnosis and treatment.
The Medical Superintendent, GTHS further informed that there is a plan to establish a colposcopy centre with this screening facility as well.
