MEETING OF THE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Curriculum Committee was held on February 16, 2024, at Fatima Jinnah Medical University under the Chairmanship of Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, Vice Chancellor, FJMU.
Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Chairperson Department of Medicine Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Aliya Zahid, HODs Prof. Huma Kiyani, Prof. Muhammad Irshad, Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Prof. Imran Aslam, Prof. Muhammad Naeem Afzal, Prof. Aysha Rashid, Prof. Naghmana Lateef, Prof. Noor Ul Ain Waheed, Controller of Examinations Mr. Muhammad Nabeel, and other faculty members attended the meeting.
Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Aliya Zahid gave a comprehensive presentation on Guidelines for Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum (MBBS) and briefed the house on the Schedule of Integrated Lectures for 1st year MBBS and teaching hours of the Hybrid Curriculum.
The Integrated Model of the MBBS curriculum typically combines traditional basic science courses with early clinical exposure and problem-based learning. This approach aims to foster a deeper understanding of medical concepts from the outset and emphasizes the application of knowledge in clinical settings. Integrated curricula often integrate various disciplines, allowing students to see the interconnectedness of the subjects and their relevance to clinical practice. It may include modules on communication skills, professionalism, and evidence-based medicine, preparing students for the complex realities of medical practice.
Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, emphasized the importance of gradually adapting the Education System to International Standards. He reiterated the gradual implementation of Integrated System which will be standardized as well as sustainable.
