The Department of Pharmacology, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore, took a unique initiative of holding a Posters and Model competition on August 30, 2023, to encourage awareness and impart knowledge.
The esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Principal Noreen Akmal, Registrar Professor Muhammad Nadeem Kasuri, Chairperson Medicine/ Dean of Nursing/ Director Quality Enhancement Cell Professor Bilquis Shabbir, Ex-Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsa Humayun, Ex-Deans Basic Sciences Professor Munazza Iqbal, Ex-Dean Undergraduate Prof. Muniza Qayyum, and faculty members attended the ceremony.
Prof. Lubna Amer, HOD of the Pharmacology Department, and her team welcomed the distinguished guests. While addressing the participants, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal enlightened them about the recent victories of FJMU. He informed that on August 9th, Professor Kamran Khalid was honoured with the Best University Teacher Award 2022 by HEC, on August 14th, Professor Bilquis Shabbir the Dean Nursing/ Chairperson of the Department of Medicine/ Director QEC, recommended for Presidential Pride of Performance Civil Award, on August 21st, a Lifetime Achievement Award, the Laurels of Honour Award, was presented to former Dean of Basic Sciences and Dean Undergraduate, Professor Munazza Khalid and on 25th August, a fourth achievement, the Academic Excellence Award 2023, presented by the Honourable Governor of Punjab, to the Vice Chancellor FJMU, presented in recognition of his unprecedented services in field of Medical Education, Research and service delivery.
He also cited the remarks of Dr. Palitha Mahipala, who recently visited FJMU, in the context of Four Laurels achievements of FJMU in the month of August 2023. Dr. Palitha Mahipala mentioned the quotations of Albert Einstein: “Imagination is more important than knowledge”. Abraham Lincoln, “Don’t make things happen, make things happen”, and Quaid E. Azam said, “Unity, Faith, and Discipline, and praised that these quotations fulfilled the achievements of FJMU with pure dedication.
Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal also applauded the Pharmacology Department initiative very highly and actively interacted with the participating under and postgraduate students. He commended the event and reiterated the need for similar events in the future.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of souviner to the Pharmacology Department and the award ceremony to the top position holders ofvthe 3rd year and postgraduate who presented posters by the esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal. Principal Prof. Noreen Akmal presented a vote of thanks to all participants and guests.
