OFFICIAL VISIT OF FOREIGN DELEGATE FROM AUSTRIAN CONSULATE AT FJMU/ SGRH

A foreign delegation from Austria led by Austrian Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Andrea Wiche, accompanied by Mr. Venzislar Wiche Dermendjiev (Husband), Mrs. Edith Petermann, and Dr. Zafar, visited the Fatima Jinnah Medical University/ Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on March 12, 2024.

Pro-Vice Chancellor FJMU, Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja along with faculty welcomed the distinguished guests.

The Chairperson, Department of Medicine/ Director Quality Enhancement Cell/ Dean Nursing Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Dean Undergraduate Prof. Aisha Malik, Prof. Dean Neurosciences Prof. Abdul Hameed, Dean Basic Sciences Prof. Aliya Zahid, Medical Superintendent, SGRH Prof. Dr. Hafiz Moeen Ud Din, and various faculty members attended the meeting.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, briefed the delegate about a short review of Fatima Jinnah Medical College and University and informed the delegate about the ex-principals and ex-vice Chancellors of FJMC and FJMU.

The Chairperson, Department of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, gave a comprehensive presentation on the history of FJMU. She highlighted the efforts focusing on Education, Research, Innovation, Leadership, Health Services, Outreach Programs and Quality assurance that have been done under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal. She further added that Fatima Jinnah Medical University and its Alumni worked together to provide rehabilitative services to the ailing humanity during the flood crisis of 2022. More than 300 homes were constructed as part of the rehabilitation projects, and unique steps were taken to support the economic recovery in addition to distributing warm clothing and blankets.

Austrian Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Andrea Wiche, while addressing, thanked the dignitaries of FJMU and very much impressed with the unprecedented services of FJMU. She also praised the efforts of FJMU in multiple areas. She emphasized that focusing on Research work is a unique and precious feature of FJMU. She appreciated the services of FJMU providing sustainable place in a comfortable manners to the female students.

The delegate visited the various departments of FJMU and had an informal conversation with the student. Austrian Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Andrea Wiche advised the students to work hard and be honest with their profession.

The delegate also visited the newly revamped C-Block of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Emergency Block and expressed their pleasure and satisfaction for excellent service delivery.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, presented the History Book of FJMU, a Journal, and a shield to Austrian Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Andrea Wiche.
