PROF NABIHA HASSAN MEMORIAL LECTURE : ADDING TO LIFE TO YEARS THAT HAVE BEEN ADDED TO LIFE” by Prof Bilquis Shabbir at FJMU

A lecture was conducted in the honour and memory of Prof Dr Nabiha Hassan under the convenorship of Patron in Chief Prof Dr Khalid Masud Gondal and Executive Committee of Association of Fatima Jinnah Old Graduates, on 6th March 2023.
The event was graced by Dr Muneera Ahmed (President AFJOG), Dr Tauseef Irfan (General Secretory AFJOG), Prof Mehmood Ali Malik, Prof Musarat Nisar, Prof Mahlaqa Rana, Prof Surriya Saeed, Prof Shamsa Hamayun, Principal Prof Noreen Akmal, Dean Undergraduate Prof Munizza Qayyum, and Dean Basic Sciences, Prof Munazza Iqbal. Speakers were Prof Nighat Mir, Dr Waseema Sheikh and Prof Dr Bilquis Shabbir, all graduates of FJMC.
Prof Nighat Mir, Prof of Rheumatology, and a renowned medical professional/ teacher and Dr Waseema Sheikh , currently serving in Boston, threw light on the life of Prof Nabiha Hassan as a mentor and teacher to so many students and all the enormous work she has done for the institution and the betterment of the fellow countrymen.
Prof Bilquis Shabbir, Chairperson Medicine, Director QEC, and old Best Graduate of FJMC, delivered Prof Nabiha Hassan Memorial Lecture on “Adding Life to Years which have been added to life ”. She described history of Geriatrics, the stats in Pakistan, basis of Geriatric manifestations and care, and emphasised on the importance of introduction of Geriatric Medicine as a speciality in medical institutions. She shared with the audience her research done at FJMU and KEMU on Geriatric patients. T
This was followed by words of wisdom by Prof Mahmood Ali Malik, century’s best graduate of KEMU. He appreciated the topic and the talk and expressed how impressed he was by the intellectual capabilities of FJMU and its graduates.
