SEMINAR ON SAFE HYSTERECTOMY AND GYNAECOLOGICAL FISTULA AT FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, LAHORE

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Units 1 & 2 organized a workshop on SAFE HYSTERECTOMY AND GYNAECOLOGICAL FISTULA on November 7, 2023, under the kind patronage of Vice Chancellor, FJMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal and under the supervision of Principal FJMC Professor Dr. Noreen Akmal at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.

Dr. Shershah Sayed, a renowned Pakistani obstetrician and gynaecologist, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Principal, Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal, Chairperson Department of Obst. & Gynae Prof. Aisha Malik, Chairperson Department of Medicine/ Dean Nursing/ Director QEC Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Dean Neurosciences Prof. Abdul Hameed, Prof. Shamila Ijaz Munir, Prof. Amna Euseph and Dr. Sarwat Nazir welcomed the chief guest.

Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit 1 Prof. Ayesha Malik and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit 2 Prof. Noreen Akmal served as the chief organizers of the event.

Dr. Saima Chaudhry, Associate Professor Obst. & Gynae at FJMU and Dr. Sarwat Nazir, Senior Registrar Obst & Gynae, SGRH served as the key moderators of the event.

In the welcome address, Prof. Aisha Malik thanked the guest speakers and panelists from different units for joining the workshop. She also appreciated the tireless efforts of the whole Obst. & Gynae Department for arranging a successful workshop. She also admired the unprecedented team spirit of the Obst. & Gynae Department, FJMU/ SGRH.

Dr. Shershah Sayed gave a brief discussion on vesicovaginal and rectovaginal fistula complications and how to correct them. After that, Dr. Shershah Sayed and faculty visited the Gynae Operation Theatre to perform vaginal hysterectomy and total abdominal hysterectomy. There was an audio-visual presentation as well. Meanwhile, Dr. Sajjad presented about how to reduce the development of fistulas.

At the end of the workshop, Prof. Aisha Malik concluded with a vote of thanks to all the guest speakers and students for their responses and active participation.

The Principal FJMC Prof. Dr. Noreen Akmal presented a bouquet of flowers to the guests.
