THREE-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP AT FJMU/ SGRH, LAHORE IN COLLABORATION WITH UNICEF

A three-day training workshop for Core Master Trainers on “Early Childhood Development” was organized under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Naveed Akbar Hotiana and Prof. Dr Fozia Ishaq at the Department of Paediatrics, Fatima Jinnah Medical University / Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in collaboration with UNICEF.
The esteemed Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, graced the occasion as chief guest.
Chairperson Department of Medicine/ Director QEC/ Dean Nurisng, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, HOD Surgery Unit-II Prof. Imran Aslam, HOD Paediatrics Medicine, UCHS Prof. Dr. Junaid Rashid, ECD Master Trainer Punjab Dr. Nighat Parveen and Chief of Nutrition, UNICEF Pakistan, Dr. Uzma Bukhari, specially attended the workshop. Dr. Uzma, Dr. Seema, and Dr. Saira served as facilitators/ trainers for the workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to educate the audience on the importance of early childhood development and unpack the nurturing care framework for it. Children’s behavioural and developmental issues will decline as a result of this workshop.
A large number of postgraduate trainees, house officers, and staff nurses participated in this training.
In the workshop, special emphasis was given on improving their counselling skills through the use of counselling cards related to child mental health development.
The worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, explained to the postgraduate trainees the significance of this training session. He believed that this training would enable the Medical Professionals to effectively manage developmental and behavioural issues in children.
In addition to thanking UNICEF for their assistance, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal underlined the need for holding future workshops of this kind and cherished the Department of Paediatrics for organizing this significant one. He mentioned that Fatima Jinnah Medical University also pledged its full support.
At the end of the workshop, certificates were distributed to the participants and facilitators.
