WHITE COAT CEREMONY HELD AT FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

The White Coat Ceremony to commemorate the first day of fresh first year was held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore.
The worthy Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masud Gondal, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Presidential Pride of Performance, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Principal of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Prof. Noreen Akmal, welcomed the distinguished guests. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
On this occasion, the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Aisha Malik, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Aliya Zahid, and Prof. Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Heads of various Departments, Faculty Members, students, and parents actively attended the ceremony.
The Principal, Prof. Noreen Akmal, gave a detailed briefing about the Fatima Jinnah Medical College and University. She said that it is an honour for you to wear a white coat with dignity & pride and serve the patients. She further said that it would be our endeavour that the students of Fatima Jinnah Medical University are provided a home-like environment, and 100% scholarships will be provided to the needy and deserving students. She advised the students to acquire medical knowledge so that they can serve the humanity as good doctors.
Vice Chancellor Professor Khalid Masood Gondal specially congratulated the students and their parents and welcomed them to Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. While addressing the students, he said that the real deserving of congratulations are your parents, due to whose prayers you have reached this place today. He further added that Fatima Jinnah Medical University and its Alumni worked together to provide rehabilitative services to the ailing humanity during the flood crisis of 2022. More than 300 homes were constructed as part of the rehabilitation projects, and unique steps were taken to support the economic recovery in addition to distributing warm clothing and blankets. He gave the specific advice, telling them to always treat their parents and teachers with the utmost respect because parents are the source to bring you people on earth, and teachers are the ones whose guidance takes you to the sky heights. You must work hard, and pray for blessings of Almighty Allah.
The Chairperson Medicine, Director of Quality Enhancement Cell and Dean Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir briefed about the recent rankings of the university. She said that the Department of Quality Enhancement Cell provides support to improve the quality and performance of the university. While addressing the students, she said that I am also a graduate of this institution, and the reason for my success in life is Fatima Jinnah Medical University. She informed the audience about recent position attained by FJMU in various International and National Ranking Systems. She stressed about realising the importance of digital footprint with just use of Artificial Intelligence for learning.
The Dean of Basic Sciences Professor Aliya Zahid administered the oath to the first-year MBBS class and welcomed them to Fatima Jinnah Medical University.
The Registrar Professor Muhammad Nadeem asked the first-year students to wear the white coats and congratulated their parents. He said that wearing a white coat is a symbol of peace, compassion, care, and support, and now it is the responsibility of you people to serve the patients.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja congratulated the students and their parents. He said it was an honour to teach at Fatima Jinnah Medical University. The credit for the Best University Teacher Award goes to Fatima Jinnah Medical University and its faculty.
The Heads of the Departments of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry congratulated the students and gave a briefing regarding their departments.
A special Souvenir was presented to Ms. Pakeeza Mazhar, the student who secured the top merit at admission in the University this year, by the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Aisha Malik, the Dean Undergraduates, presented a vote of thanks.
